I like to do a lot of different things, so I can help you in many ways.
I'm a multi-specialist in online media.
At different times in my career I've been deeply involved in software engineering, writing, computer graphics,
user interfaces, visual design, marketing, and branding. But I like to mix it up and do a little of everything.
With my broad experience I can easily
stand in for the small army of specialists that a typical agency might want to deploy on your project.
The variety keeps me engaged, and working with one person can save you time and money.
I have other independent professionals I can call upon, but for
the most part I work alone.
I'm trained and well regarded in all the things I do.
I have dug deep into all of my chosen areas and received recognition for my work.
I have a computer science degree in compiler construction, and my first job had me writing code for the Space Shuttle's compiler.
I have studied languages and literature all my life, and I've won awards for my copywriting and my fiction.
I love visual design and graphics,
and I've created enduring visual designs for some of the world's leading
companies.
I ran the user interface design group at a software company, pushing the envelope
on what the technology of the time made possible.
I've worked in marketing, branding, and public relations -- so I know something
about communicating with your customers in a clear and persuasive fashion.
I've worked inside small, mid-sized, and very large companies.
I've been at startups where money is tight and resourcefulness has to be turned up to eleven.
I've been inside mid-sized companies where the number of stakeholders is remarkably
large for just about any project. And I've worked inside megalithic multinationals.
So I understand where you're coming from.
I'm an experienced professional and pragmatic businessman.
I know that whatever I do for you
must be informed by your business needs and create actual value.
I don't get hung up on formal processes or methodologies. Though every project is different I
strive to work in the most efficient way possible, taking into account your timeframe, your budget,
your stakeholders, and your business requirements.
Technology is not inherently interesting to me; it's a tool to serve larger objectives. So I might
not (and probably won't) recommend anything bleeding-edge for your project.
I don't view your project as an opportunity to artistically express myself nor enhance my portfolio;
instead it's an opportunity to create something that makes sense and adds value to your business.
Everything we do needs to consider your bottom line; it may sound boring but that's how I work.
I pull all of the pieces together -- real-world business experience,
a deep background in technology and a lifetime spent designing and writing.
If you think I can help you please open the conversation using
my contact form. I'll get right back to you --
and we can find out how we can work together.
